August is Black philanthropy month. Lifting up the organization that I founded 7 years ago called Southern Black Girls & Women’s Consortium.

Did you know less than 1 % of funding dollars go to orgs that support women and girls in the south? When I discovered this I moved on a vision God gave me to create a $100 million initiative that would support women’s leadership and provide funding to orgs that support women and girls in the south.

@blackgirlsdream has provided more than $6 million dollars to orgs in 13 states in the south. We have directly invested in 200+ girl centered groups, invested in 550 community projects developed by Black girls, convened an annual leadership conference of 1300+ girls and launched an annual multi state bus tour to spread JOY, organize communities and empower girl leaders.
