🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️ NYT: President Trump has paused plans to expand military operations against Iran over concerns that a wider war would rapidly exhaust U.S. Patriot interceptor stockpiles and other critical air defense munitions in the region.

U.S. officials say fears of a broader regional conflict, Iranian retaliation against Gulf allies, and major economic and energy disruptions also influenced the decision.

Gen. Dan Caine reportedly warned the White House that renewed strikes are militarily feasible but would significantly deplete CENTCOM’s interceptor inventory.

A previously discussed first phase of the campaign would have targeted Iranian coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile batteries, fast attack boats, and other military assets linked to attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the NYT, several of Trump’s advisers favor maintaining negotiations and economic pressure on Iran instead of escalating the conflict.
