75 commits on ue6-main last week. ue5-main: zero.
US July 4 holiday, so one engineer basically ran the show. And the show was the UE6 editor teardown, still going.
UnrealEd lost three more walls. Thread ↓
The nice part: the refactor is auditing itself.
Moving code keeps shaking out real bugs, fixed inline: tool-stack lifecycle correctness, multiple null-guards, and a same-day fix for a startup crash the work itself introduced. Also a Quartz timing out-of-bounds regression fix.
SpeedrunCI is now on FAB!
You shouldn't have to leave Unreal Engine just to start a build.

Shipping on 5.8 today? ue5-main bumped to 5.8.1.
Worth pulling: a Nanite crash with translucency disabled (the default config), a landscape spline regression, a Vulkan submission-thread deadlock, a MegaLights + Forward Rendering crash. Tail-end maintenance, but real fixes.
UE 5.8 shipped June 17 as the last planned major UE5 release. Mainline development moved to ue6-main.
878 commits on ue6-main last week. 113 on ue5-main.

Nothing here is production-actionable. Early Access is targeted for late 2027, full release 12 to 18 months after that.
If you ship a game today, you stay on 5.8. This is forward radar, not a migration prompt.
