8 years, 2 degrees and over 50 hospital admissions (got bored of counting!) later, I did it. I passed finals. Dr Speller, coming soon to a hospital near you!! 🎉🦥👩⚕️ #MedTwitter#MedStudentTwitter#ScrewYouAsthma
Started unpacking from holiday and took some bits to put in the lounge. Then decided I had to rearrange all my shelves, and then that I needed to go through my cookbooks to see if I still wanted them all. 3 hours later and my suitcase is still full and my floor is now a tip 🤣🤦♀️
@DoctorOstomy On the bright side I found the box of kitkats I bought in Costco I few weeks ago that I had lost! Apparently my cookbook shelf was the ideal place to store them 🤣
@LittlePersonDoc @doctor_dru_ @sarah16107480 Definitely a financial hit for them though, and does make the portfolio stuff a bit more challenging. And also probably not helping people feel particularly valued 😞
@LittlePersonDoc @doctor_dru_ @sarah16107480 Definitely no need for OOH for F1 currently - I have never done nights or weekends etc due to health so spent a very (very 😅) long time reading the curriculum to check. Same for F2 I think. You just need to be aware of what you need to cover in SLEs and find ward cases to match
@juliaisobela I made sure to be really clear about both why other places were less suitable and why the place I was would be better, and the impact that would have on work & training (shorter recovery, less time off etc). And got teams and OH etc to write letters saying the same for support
@juliaisobela Ffs! I’m polypharmacy personified but am working, surviving and sometimes✨thriving✨. We exist and are worth no less! Given its polypharmacy and struggles but working and using my training or basically living in hospital and no function you’d think they might be all for it 🙄
Seems typical that I’d see this announced the day after listening to @amateuradam so passionately speak about the lack of mental health support for #nhs staff. I know so many that this service has made an enormous difference to and stopping it is a huge step backwards 😞
@Dr_ErinLS When I’ve talked to final years about f1 over the last couple of years I’ve really tried to emphasise this! And the importance of discussing it.
I thought so many things were my problem - either health or imposter syndrome, but turned out most of us felt the same!
It’s easy to always focus on negatives but we need to remember to celebrate the positives too! Thank you so much to all of the amazing doctors out there who have trained me, worked with me and treated me over the years. You are awesome 😎 👩⚕️ 👨⚕️ #NationalDoctorsDay
Having a complete career crisis. Had accepted my health probably wasn’t that compatible with hospital med but this rotation has reminded me how much I LOVE haematology 😫 and tez for my asthma is now maybe working enough that this might be doable??? HELP
Some days I feel like a competent adult. And then other days I have to curl up in bed trying not to vomit because I somehow forgot to take my morning meds 🙃🤦♀️
