The Stamford Fire Department is running a toy drive this month at all their fire houses. I dropped some toys off today and stopped by to say thanks to the men and women who protect Stamford every day.
“Firefighter Jonathan Cunningham came forward to say that the city has sued his union to try to reverse a decision by an independent state arbitrator who ruled that Cunningham qualifies for worker’s compensation benefits.” @IAFFofficial@ConnAFLCIO@upffa@StamAdvocate@News12CT
Together with the Stamford Police Association we are pleased to announce the endorsement of four candidates for the Stamford Board of Representatives. These candidates actively support our firefighters and police officers and will make Stamford’s public safety a priority.

“Regardless of how difficult the job, #firefighters will continue to push forward, keep going and help everybody,” said @HFFA1463 President Bobby Lee. “That’s what we do.” #MauiFires#Hawaii https://t.co/933lBz2LVL
“If we can make sure fire fighters get tested early for multiple types of cancer, countless lives will be saved,” said @IAFFPresident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in #Newark following the line-of-duty deaths of Augusto "Augie" Acabou and Wayne "Bear" Brooks last night. May we always honor their sacrifice.

Just wait until I tell you about the harmful gasses that fire fighters are exposed to every day… and then still have to fight for treatment to battle the diseases those toxic gasses cause.
State reps @khanna_rachel and Hector Arzeno at @ctfirepac event in Stamford. Khanna and Arzeno were sponsors of our recently passed occupational cancer coverage bill. It would not have been possible without the tremendous support we received from legislators all across CT.
It was a pleasure spending the day with State Reps @khanna_rachel and @coreypparis in Hartford for the @upffa@IAFFofficial Fire Ops 101 program. The program aims to educate decision makers about the capabilities and needs of fire fighters serving CT communities. @IAFFLeg
@WFSBnews was in Bristol, CT for a live training burn. @upffa’s Chris Albani was interviewed about the cancer risks associated with firefighting and ongoing legislative efforts to better protect fire fighters. @IAFFLeg
Every day in Canada and the U.S., fire fighters wear gear laden with toxic #PFAS forever chemicals. It is killing us. The @IAFFofficial is fighting to change that and hold accountable those who have let these carcinogens stay in our PPE.

Needless exposure to toxic 'forever chemicals' in our bunker gear has made too many of our brothers and sisters sick. For them, and for future fire fighters, we will pursue every avenue to get PFAS out of our protective gear.
