The MKP doesn’t have a base problem, and anyone claiming otherwise is just being deliberately obtuse. The party actually has a strong and growing support base, largely made up of frustrated, angry, and disillusioned ANC members and voters who feel let down. That’s the reality. But here’s the catch and political reality of what could become MKP’s biggest hurdle is the assumption that this current wave of support, or this mix of voters from different backgrounds, will be enough to carry them all the way to a two-thirds majority. It won’t. Not unless they start broadening their appeal and moving beyond their comfort zone, if they stay inward they'll in the long run be stagnant or even erode its support.
You’ve got to strengthen your political infrastructure and equally put in the organisational work of engaging more seriously with other sectors of society. I’m talking the business community, scholars and academics, the black middle and working class, inner-city mothers and housewives, the suburban women who in the main prioritizes issues like crime and economic security above others, unions, the youth and everyone. Start having real, meaningful policy discussions that actually speak to these different groups. Right now, a lot of parties, especially the ANC, are guilty of just assuming people will vote for them out of loyalty or nostalgia. But times have drastically changed. People want real engagement. They want to be heard. They want to see their daily struggles being addressed with real, practical solutions. That’s the only way forward. Anything less is wishful thinking. 🗳️
@molotokk9@Papi_lagos Give shares (like preferential) to investors, with buy back clauses after you give them their return…use your money less when expanding. An opinion. All the best in your pursuits 🫡
