@christineburns is a #Trans activist who edited the book 'Trans Britain: our journey from the shadows'. @guardian said it was one of the most interesting books of 2018. Our own @theFoxFisher has a chapter in it.
Former #PoetLaureate, Dame #CarolAnnDuffy, is openly lesbian. If you read only one collection of hers, make it 'The World's Wife', in which the wives of famous men such as Mrs Midas, Frau Freud & Queen Kong get a voice. What an imagination!
Artist, filmmaker & distinguished professor of Arts @ucsc, Isaac Julien was born in #Hackney, #London in 1960. We love his movies 'Looking For Langston' (1989) & 'Young Soul Rebels' (1991). Knighted & quite right too!
#DerekJarman was a filmmaker, artist & #LGBT+ activist who died of #AIDS in 1994 (age 52😢). He made many movies but #Caravaggio (1986) is seen as his most accessible. He emulates the artist's use of #chiaroscuro (light/dark) in the film. Just beautiful! Watch it.
#DavidBowie is probably the most famous bisexual this country has produced. Our students learn about the pivotal moment in #UK cultural history when he performed #Starman on 'Top Of The Pops' in 1972. It was a life-changing 3 mins for many young #LGBT+ people.
2/2: #Wittgenstein had three male loves in his life & one female. Whenever he wanted to escape from philosophy, he would go the cinema, take a front row seat & completely immerse himself in the movies of #CarmenMiranda. & who can blame him.
1/2: Have you read the philosopher #Wittgenstein? Born #Vienna (1889) & taught @Cambridge_Uni. Famous for his 'Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus'. Oh just call it the 'TLP' for short (everyone else does😂).
2/2: Is #Orlando the first trans novel ever? Quote: “The change of sex, though it altered [Orlando’s] future, did nothing whatsoever to alter [Orlando’s] identity.” Watch #TildaSwinton's magnificent performance😱in the 1992🎥by #SallyPotter.😍
1/2: #VirginiaWoolf's novel #Orlando (1928) was inspired by her affair with #VitaSackvilleWest. Both women were quite open about their love for each other at a time when #British society was socially conservative.

#JudgmentAtNuremberg -Stanley Kramer (1961) is on BBC Four at 9pm. It's about the Nuremberg Trials and is quite astonishing in its moral clarity.
Everyone in this is great- and everyone is in it.
But it is #JudyGarland who is the revelation.
