The ban on female medical education is currently one of the biggest national crises in Afghanistan. The 5-year gap means tens of thousands of girls have not gone through the pipeline. Given that we currently have female doctors, nurses, midwives, etc., the pain will not be immediately visible; however, the gap will eventually hurt Afghanistan, and mostly the villages where we already have a shortage.
Even if we reopen the schools today, the damage is mostly done.
