Stuff like this hits close to home for me -when I was a teenager my mom tried everything she could to kill the creativity in me and control my life

She would discipline me by taking anything that allowed for creative expression in any degree - clothes, shoes, books, games and eventually took my first USB microphone away along with my computer

She raided my room when I was 15 and threw away years worth of short stories, lyrics and drawings I had because "no normal kid would be spending this much time on stuff like this" and called me "mentally unwell" for writing so much about my feelings and life at the time

I was painted as the problem kid of the family, fated to grow up into a failure and was constantly reminded how in choosing to pursue anything other than what she wanted for me I was letting down my family and disrespecting my dead father's wishes

There's alot more I could share, but moral of the story is don't feed into it - work for what you believe in and when things get tough and toxic try your hardest to quietly remove yourself from that environment because parents like this don't change their tune until you "have something to show for it" and refuse to acknowledge that creative/online ventures can be legitimately worthwhile, especially nowadays
