McDonald's, like any major company, designs its restaurants around profit.
Early on, that meant appealing to kids: bright colors, playgrounds, Ronald McDonald, toys, anything that made children drag their parents in.
But the brand is now so established that it no longer needs kids to get people through the door. Adults come for convenience, price, and familiarity.
Minimalist restaurants are cheaper to maintain, easier to clean and standardize across thousands of locations, and better suited to adult customers.
So McDonald's didn't lose its personality. The colorful look served a business purpose, and when that purpose faded, the design changed with it
@TheRealJamieKay She’s so committed to Christian tradition that she even chose the career historically assigned to one of Jesus Christ’s closest female followers.
@elenaantoniou3 Admitting your ignorance on this matter is a noble thing to do.
It's better than being ignorant like Tucker and not admitting it.
It's fine... You'll just never be able to be a foreign minister or do anything related.
Reminder: you wrote that Trump "excluded the UK and France from Nato Talks". There were no NATO talks.
Read past the headline: your own source describes a gathering of NATO members put together by the Pentagon's Elbridge Colby, "essentially a working group". The Pentagon can choose who attends its own meeting. It has no authority to exclude an ally from NATO talks, where every member has a seat.
Groups of members have met without the rest throughout NATO's history: the Quad, the E3, the Bucharest Nine. The UK and France sit in the first two. None of those are "NATO talks" either.
The UK and France were left off Washington's guest list, not NATO's, just as they were at the Bergen Group's two earlier meetings since June.
"Official" isn't the key word, it's the implicit one. "NATO talks" (referred by @keira_con artist) are official by definition: NATO runs by consensus, every ally has a seat, and neither Trump nor the Pentagon has the authority to exclude a member. If the US picked the guest list, it wasn't NATO talks.
Fact check: what happened wasn't NATO talks. It's the "Bergen Group", a Pentagon-convened format with six European allies that discusses NATO's future and meets in Poland this month. The UK, France and the Baltics weren't invited. Funny enough, GERMANY, on your "hostile" list, was invited. Colby's stated aim is to bring the whole alliance along, not bury it.
As for the rest: Ukraine's united far-right list won 2.15% in the 2019 parliamentary election, below the 5% threshold. Pew's highest-migration scenario (2017) has France at 18% Muslim in 2050. "WW3" and "Islamo-Marxist states" are predictions, not facts.
@CascadiaEric@masuzafi True. And 20% of British workers were in farming in 1841, about 1% today, yet nobody says Britain stopped eating. A falling share isn't falling output: UK factories made more in 2018 than in 1990. Services just grew faster. That's what development looks like.
By share of UK output (2023, Commons Library):
Retail & wholesale: 9.9%
Manufacturing: 9.1%
Finance & insurance: 8.8%
Professional & technical services: 8.3%
Health & social care: 8.3%
Construction: 6.2%
Real estate is 13.1% on paper, but most of that is imputed rent on owner-occupied homes.
So manufacturing is still bigger than finance.
