it’s kind of cool when a low budget production breaks into the main stream so that a bunch of people who have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about feel the need to have an authoritative opinion on it
Cool. Now find other Gen-Z filmmakers @ Hollywood. They're out there wanting to make good cinema. Or have Good shit under your nose that needs to be picked up.
A $750 Thousand indie horror movie dethroning a $160 Million Star Wars Movie at the box office (even for a day) is currently sending shockwaves throughout all of Hollywood.
I can tell you for a fact that studio executives are taking notice at what Obsession is doing right now.
First trailer for ‘PRIMETIME’, starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen.
The film follows Chris Hansen as he runs ‘How To Catch A Predator’ where he confronts adult men who think they are meeting minors to have sex.
In theaters later this year.
@andrew12la@TheDougFiles Also I certainly wouldn’t call Obsession ‘reasonably financed’ by the Hollywood system standards at all, the fact the movie looks, sounds, and flows as well as it does is entirely because of Barker’s skill navigating a low budget.
Curry Barker, a 26-year-old YouTuber-turned-filmmaker, made his horror film “Obsession” in just 20 days on a mere $750,000 budget.
Now, after its second weekend in theaters, the Focus Features-distributed movie is on track to earn more than 100 times that amount. https://t.co/npJnyJKs5F

COLUMN: Inde Navarrette’s performance in #Obsession should be remembered (and, more importantly, actually considered) come award season.
Her work is singularly brave and brilliant, standing alongside rich horror performances in recent years like Lupita Nyong’o in “Us” and Toni Collette in “Hereditary.”
Voters, don’t make the same mistake you did by ignoring those lauded women.
