(2) Folks, the general demeanor these students displayed was heartwarming to say the least. They did incredible, truly. Eighth grade parents, be proud, because your kiddos were the epitome of what it means to be respectful.

(1) The 9/11 Memorial Service, put on by the guys and gals of the Maryville and Polk Township Fire Departments, is always proves to be a tear jerker.

The MMS eighth graders once again were able to attend, which on a personal level, I feel is incredibly important.

100 percent of the volunteers I’ve talked to have went into this crosswalk gig with a cautiously optimistic demeanor. 100 percent absolutely LOVE it once they get into the swing of it. You get to build some awesome relationships with these kiddos! Reach out to EFES if interested!

UPDATE: A much needed facelift has been scheduled for this crosswalk! Thanks to @GMtheCM for facilitating the improvement, helping make the crosswalk more visible to motorists on First Street!

THREAD (1): Need a hand with something, folks. It’s been brought to my attention that we’ve had multiple issues with motorists failing to yield to pedestrians at the Eugene Field Elementary crosswalk on E. 1st Street, even with the placement of a temporary stop sign.

THREAD (3): Parked vehicles can often hinder the ability to observe nearby foot traffic. If you see the temporary sign in place, please STOP before proceeding. By doing so, you’ve done your part to keep our students safe while adding only seconds to your morning commute.

Just a reminder for our EFES parents - be sure to use the Eugene Field parking lot for drop-off. For safety purposes, our buses block off Second Street as they unload, usually between 7:25 and 7:35-ish. Using the lot for drop-off helps us avoid congestion!

Tomorrow’s the big day, folks! There are always a TON of moving parts when it comes to kicking the year off on the right foot, and it can take a bit to dust those cobwebs off from last year. Hang in there, don’t stress, and remember - it’s going to be an awesome year!

Time to dust this bad boy off as we start to get back into the swing of things again. I’ve been in Jefferson City for the past couple of days for the MSBA’s (@MissouriSBA) School Safety Academy. Lots of great speakers on a variety of topics!

Due to the absolutely ridiculous temperature/wind chill, the Maryville R-II School District will have a remote learning day tomorrow (02/16). No in-person classes!

It’s pretty cold out, and roads could be fairly treacherous come morning. Due to the combo, the Maryville R-II School District will have another AMI day tomorrow, Tuesday, February 9th (2021).

SHOUTOUT: Our local road crews deserve our gratitude - be it MoDOT, Nodaway County Road and Bridge, or our own Maryville Street Department. These people worked an unbelievable number of hours the past two days to keep our little corner of the state running. We appreciate you!
