This sweet tripod pup had his right rear leg amputated after arriving with a serious injury, but don't tell Metro🐾🐾 that he's different. He lives life to the fullest and is full of love, happiness, and determination.

Meet Maverick🐾🐾 and Monroe🐾🐾!

This dynamic duo recently made their way to Isle of Wight County Animal Services after being picked up as strays

They appear to be shepherds. Monroe🐾🐾 is a white German Shepherd and Maverick🐾🐾 looks more like an anatolian thing? Thoughts? He has rear dews!

They're both super super sweet and eager to work for snacks!

Since they're new to us, we're still learning about them! They obviously get along with each other, but have not been tested with other dogs or cats

Adopting them out together makes them "less adoptable". Ideally, we'd love to keep them together!

Stop by during business hours (11:30am to 3:30pm), any day, except Wednesdays, to meet them!

Saturday was field trip day for Chase🐾🐾!

This 7.5 year old retriever/lab mix is just the sweetest guy.

His Foster💕 Field Trip Guide had this to say of their adventure: "he is very sweet and well behaved. Chase🐾🐾 was calm in the car and quite good on the leash.
He was good with other dogs, even ones off leash who came running up to him while he was leashed.
He enjoyed a very long sniffy walk and hanging out in the yard."

We also know that Chase🐾🐾 is housetrained, treat motivated and does well with cats.
This senior guy would do best in an adults-only home environment.

Mater🐾🐾 is a 3-year-old terrier mix who has been waiting far too long for his forever❤️ family. He’s been at the shelter since May 2025, and after all this time, the shelter environment is starting to take a toll on him. One thing Mater🐾🐾 has discovered lately? POOLS! 💦 Whether it’s a big pool or a little one, Mater🐾🐾 has been having an absolute blast splashing around and enjoying himself. After playtime, he’s more than happy to settle in and soak up some affection from his favorite people.

We need to talk about Oakland🐾🐾 the cute little Boxer mix, because somehow this girl is still waiting—and her foster💕 family has given us a pretty compelling list of reasons she shouldn’t be!!!

Oakland🐾🐾 is 3 years old, 49 pounds, wonderful with kids, great on walks, responsive to training, and happiest when she’s simply hanging out with her people.

She is calm and snuggly in the house. She gets hilarious zoomies. She naps in sunny spots and on anything remotely soft. She loves a good squeaky toy and considers removing the squeaker a job that must be completed thoroughly. And apparently, when the mood strikes, she will also put her entire 49-pound self into a basket and act like that was obviously where she belonged.

Basically, she’s a really, really good family dog. Oakland🐾🐾 doesn’t need some unicorn home or extraordinary adopter. She needs people who want a sweet, funny, affectionate dog woven into the everyday stuff—walks, maybe some kids of her own, couch time, hanging around the house, being together.

We know the right family is going to look at Oakland🐾🐾 one day and wonder how everyone else missed her. Let’s help them find her. ❤️
