As our final act of #singing#together before the current lockdown, we sang it to an empty church and want to offer you this recording we made in lieu of the live performance. We hope it resonates for you as it did for us, and maybe lends some perspective on our current troubles.
Six weeks later, over the following #EasterWeekend, he composed this motet Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst. The selection of words from The Lamentation of Jeremiah is so terse and disjointed you can sense the trauma; it’s the music that expresses so eloquently the depth of #darkness.
Two pieces so different in style and composed about 400 years apart, but equally stunning. Looking forward to singing those (and other music) on Good Friday 10 April 7.00pm @LeedsMinster#Penthos@bigogle#Allegri#Miserere

Leeds International Concert Season
There's plenty of free music to enjoy at the Town Hall thanks to our lovely organ and the special guest musicians we have perform on it. 🎶🤩
Upcoming concerts include @SPSLeeds, Darius Battiwalla, Dr Thomas Trotter, and Simon Lindley with @PhillipMcCann.
Looking back onto a fantastic past year: new name (married), new (to me) music and venues explored - small churches in the Cotswolds to Liverpool Cathedral and Beverley Minster (and lots of places in between)
Wishing everyone a 2020 full of happiness and lasting memories! 🎉🥂
