Geology and Geography educational resources for all. Set up by two PhDs with a passion for education and earth sciences. Aim to keep learning fun for everyone!
Kicking off the #MineralAlphabet we have #Andalusite: an orthorhombic silicate mineral with distinct prismatic cleavage, uneven to subconchoidal fracture and trimorphic with #Kyanite & #Sillimanite. #Chiastolite a variety of Andalusite has a cruciform cross-section. #mineralABC
Happy dinosaur birthday to Dr Gideon Mantell, who was born #OnThisDay in 1790. Gideon, along with his wife, Mary, discovered the first teeth of one of the most famous dinosaurs of all, Iguanodon.
Gideon dedicated much of his life to studying dinosaurs & other fossils #Legend
To all the Geography A Level teachers out there: when you are encouraging your students to study 'geography' at University, please introduce them to the possibility of studying Earth Sciences or Environmental (Geo)sciences. Students want to study volcanoes, earthquakes & fossils!
Creative Children Curating Collections is exhibition with a twist... we handed all of the curative power over to a group of amazing toddlers!
Find out about what they got up to when they visited the Museum @unibirmingham! (best with sound on)

For #TectonicTuesday we have an image from a cliff section, near Corton Village in Suffolk. The image shows #microfaulting in Corton Sands. The sands contain fine carbonaceous laminae which are offset by a series of normal microfaults. For more images see https://t.co/BOkJ8HtEQm
A day in the life of a #hydrogeologist….understanding the subsurface #rocks & #aquifers are an important part of the job. We get useful data from drilling #boreholes, rock cores, geological maps & rock outcrops in order to produce conceptual #groundwater models of the subsurface
