@Sportsfan4233@annetekiri@Shane58637790 "We have one the highest minimum wages in the world and it is a huge contributor to a high cost of living. 16 year olds stocking shelves shouldn't be paid 50k a year!!"
This you?
@Sportsfan4233@annetekiri@Shane58637790 You're the one who blamed the cost of living crisis on 16 year olds making minimum wage. Now you're backpedaling and saying it's not their fault.
You don't even have an argument anymore.
@DonovanZJackso1@Shane58637790 That's not true, actually. This government even sought advice from the MBIE on how much they could afford to raise minimum wage without affecting hiring, and chose to ignore the recommendation and raise it by less than inflation.
@Sportsfan4233@annetekiri@Shane58637790 The supermarkets are already making enormous profits due to a lack of competition. What's the benefit of giving them even larger profits? They already have the ability to compete and drop prices, but they don't because there's insufficient competition.
@paddlesup24@Shane58637790 You said someone who is unsatisfied with their earnings should change jobs. I'm pointing out that the unemployment rate is the highest it has been in a very long time, which not only depressed wages, but also makes changing jobs harder.
@actparty If you wanted to raise productivity, why did you force National to dismantle the productivity commission within the first 100 days as part of your coalition demands? You're the ones who created it in the first place in 2011.
@FreedomSeekerNZ@_breadcapital Ok but we have more public sector employees now than we did under Labour. So if that's not the cause of the ballooning unemployment numbers, what is?
@Obese_Ballerina@NMowbray23 Ok so that's what's called an anecdote. The reason it's not reliable is because the people you know are likely to have similar views as you.
Secondly, why do you think someone being born rich or working in an office means they have a high IQ?
@futureyield@NMowbray23 So you're saying that reality is better described by left-aligned philosophy, and so intelligent people tend to gravitate toward that philosophy?
@AbelCooper43867@NWD02696407@the_salty_one_ yeah cause conservatives pushed for urban sprawl and a car culture to the point where many neighbours are increasingly less pedestrian-friendly.
@chrisluxonmp Why would he be "smoked" because he'd have to pay tax on profit made from a commercial venture?
What's the alternative? We let businesses not pay tax and make working Kiwis shoulder the burden of footing the tax bill?
