Is it really too much to ask that in a country of 25 million people, to just find and elect 227 honest, straight-talking, well-intentioned MP’s and senators?
How are we so BAD at this??????
For 16 years until 2014 Julie Hesmondhalgh played a trans woman called Hayley Cropper on Coronation Street. Nobody screamed. Nobody rioted. There was no national meltdown. People just watched the show and got on with their lives.
During those same years Helen Joyce worked at The Economist and Maya Forstater was a tax advisor and JK Rowling just wrote books.
Oh and Nadia won Big Brother!
So what changed.
Not trans people.
The only thing that changed was the hate campaign.
The reason all Australia’s right-wing politicians and almost the entire mainstream media have turned into nasty, deceptive, vote-chasing arsewipes since the #Bondi massacre is because Trump and the US media (led by Murdoch’s Fox) have taught them that nasty, deceptive, vote-chasing arsewipes both get attention and incur no significant negative consequences for cruelly weaponising suffering and sorrow.
They’re all stupid, grotesque fuckheads.
@SandraEckersley I’ll happily state my case in court if charged. There’s nothing antisemitic about disapproving of Zionism. There’s nothing antisemitic about disapproving of the Israeli government committing genocide in Gaza, or its West Bank settlement policies.
UN Human Rights investigator Chris Sidoti: anyone who has served in the #Israeli military since 7 October 2023 (Australian or other) should be regarded as a war crimes suspect. https://t.co/sMe1PuCV7G
@CrapeKitty@2GB873 Setting aside fora moment that cops aren’t allowed to murder people who are no longer a threat, it’s also impossible to interrogate and extract information from a corpse. Information which might identify others involved in planning etc, & help prevent future attacks. Idiot.
Anti-Trans nurse Peggie, was so scared of the scary trans doctor she deliberately waited for the two other women to leave the changing room so she could confront Upton alone. https://t.co/yeReKW3Hba
Something is shifting in Britain. It is not just LGBTQIA+ people walking away from exclusion. Women are leaving too. Parents and allies are quietly withdrawing support from organisations that shut trans people out. You can feel it like pressure in the air.
In recent months we have seen national institutions make choices that remove trans people from public life. Girlguiding will now only accept those recorded female at birth. The Women’s Institute will remove trans women from membership in 2026. Virgin Active has removed trans women from female changing rooms. Barclays has barred trans women from women’s toilets in branches. Labour has banned trans women from the main floor of the 2026 Women’s Conference meaning no speeches no voting no policy debate. These were decisions made willingly. The law never forced them. The Supreme Court ruling allowed exclusion it did not demand it. Every ban is a choice.
The backlash is nothing like what they expected. Girlguiding volunteers are threatening to leave. WI members are furious and trans men are planning to join as protest. Virgin Active members are cancelling their gym contracts. Barclays customers are closing accounts. Even Labour supporters are stepping back saying this is not the party they believed in. This is not only a queer response. Straight mothers are angry that their daughters are taught exclusion. Teachers are horrified. Human rights workers refuse to look away. People who care about fairness are leaving with their feet and wallets. What is happening now is not chaos. It is consequence.
There is a growing belief that we should stop financially supporting companies that exclude trans people. Why should we pay membership fees to gyms where our sisters cannot change safely. Why should we bank with institutions willing to tell trans women to use the men’s toilets. Why should we sit quietly while communities built on belonging close the door to some of the most vulnerable among us. If they remove us we will remove our money. If they exclude us we exclude them. Boycott is forming not through leadership but through common sense. People are done funding discrimination.
So this is the call. If you use any of these services contact them and complain. If you are a member cancel where you can. If you are a customer move your account. Tell them why. They need to hear it directly from us. Companies respond when it hurts their bottom line. They change when silence becomes refusal. We do not have to protest in the street to be powerful. We can protest with our spending. We can protest by walking away together. Britain is better than exclusion. Our community deserves safety respect and space to exist without being interrogated.
Share this and speak openly. Let organisations know that equality is not optional. It is the minimum. If they ban trans people then we boycott. If they divide us we unite against them. Our money has power. Our community has power. We use it now.
@RoxaneLGibson1@Partisan_12 The point is made as counterweight to the myriad racist idiots in the immediate aftermath of something like this flooding socials with posts calling for deportation of Muslims.
@Partisan_12 MUSLIM HERO❤️ stopped Israel’s false-flag attack!
During the armed attack on the Jewish community in Sydney, Ahmed El Ahmad,
a 43-year-old father of two and a MUSLIM, risked his life and took down one of the attackers, preventing a far greater tragedy. Humanity won.
