Context/Details:
July 29, 2023, California.
In Stockton, a pair of 7-Eleven workers were compelled to confront a bold thief who was robbing the store.
The incident occurred when 42-year-old Tyrone Frazier started shoveling cigarette packs into a trashcan. As he was confronted by the employees, a physical altercation ensued. One employee held Frazier to the ground while another struck him with what appeared to be a wooden broom handle. Frazier, who initially threatened to shoot the employees, eventually conceded, saying, “Ok, I’m done.”
Frazier managed to flee the scene before the police arrived. However, later that night, he was found by authorities complaining of leg pain from the beating but did not reveal how it occurred. Initially, the responding officers did not arrest Frazier as they were unaware of the 7-Eleven incident. It was only after the footage of the robbery went viral that police connected Frazier to the crime. He was subsequently arrested on August 7 following a vandalism incident near the store.
Following his arrest, Frazier faced six charges, including two counts of robbery, attempted robbery, criminal threats, commercial burglary and vandalism. His bail was set at a substantial amount of $750,000.
The 7-Eleven employees reported that Frazier had been harassing their store for two days. On July 28, he allegedly threatened to shoot the employees and stole cigarette packets. He returned the next day hours before the viral incident, threatening to shoot up the store again before fleeing with some food. Frazier was also linked to a third robbery in the area.
Tyrone Frazier pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery under Penal Code 211. He received an initial sentence of three years, which was doubled to six years due to his admission of a prior strike. The court has reserved the decision on restitution, and all standard legal terms have been applied to ensure justice.
The store clerks, initially under investigation for assault, have since had the inquiry dropped by the local district attorney.
