Asylum seekers arrive in the United States after facing severe violence, persecution, and oppression. They have extraordinary resilience. But a new government proposal threatens to take away one of the most essential tools people need to recover, thrive, and contribute to their communities: the ability to work.
On February 23, the U.S. government announced a proposed rule that would effectively shut down access to work permits for asylum seekers. According to the government’s own estimate, it could take up to 173 years before new work permit applications are accepted again. The rule would also make some renewals harder for those who already have work permits, and it offers no plan to fix the massive asylum backlog that created these delays in the first place.
Your voice can help ensure that resilience and courage is met with opportunity, not punishment. Stand with asylum seekers. Protect their right to work. Help build a system where people can rebuild their lives and strengthen our communities with dignity, hope, and safety. https://t.co/1MA8XW8vaH

Dr Jauhar speaks eloquently about how our hearts are extraordinarily sensitive to our systems, Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, where the heart weakens in response to extreme stress. Patients mimic heart attack symptoms. And the heart muscle appears stunned. #EducatingLeaders25
