Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking, terror-related activities and their financial networks, Srinagar Police has taken legal action against 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 ₹7.11 𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙧𝙚 under the provisions of the NDPS Act and UA(P) Act. In the latest action, Police Station Zakura attached a residential house along with land at Bilal Colony, Zakura, valued at approximately ₹2.5 crore, belonging to Owais Ahmad Rather S/o Gh. Mohd Rather , in connection with FIR No. 34/2026 U/S 8/22, 29 NDPS Act. The property, identified during investigation as having been acquired in connection with illicit drug trafficking, was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act. The order prohibits its sale, lease, transfer, alteration or creation of any third-party interest until further orders of the competent authority. Earlier, Police Station Nowgam attached property worth approximately ₹2.85 crore belonging to Sheeraz Ahmed Sheikh S/o Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, R/o Wagoora, BK Pora, in connection with FIR No. 121/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act. The property comprises a two-storeyed concrete building, two shops and a rice mill constructed over 18 marlas of land at Wagoora, Tehsil BK Pora. The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after approval of the competent authority. In another action, Police Station Ahmadnagar attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1.30 crore at Danihama, Hazratbal, belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Gani Mir , in connection with FIR No. 20/2026 U/S 7/25 Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 18-B, 19, 20, 23, 38 & 39 UA(P) Act. The property, comprising a single-storeyed residential house with appurtenant land measuring 06 marlas, was attached under Section 25 of the UA(P) Act after obtaining prior approval of the competent authority and following due legal procedure in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses. Further, Police Station Shalteng froze a single-storeyed residential house along with 07 marlas of land at Check Mujgund, Srinagar, valued at approximately ₹46 lakh, belonging to Amir Ahmad Mir S/o Mohd. Ashraf Mir , in connection with FIR No. 43/2023 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act. Investigation established that the property had been acquired from proceeds of illicit drug trafficking, following which it was frozen under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. Through these actions, Srinagar Police has attached/frozen four immovable properties having a combined value of approximately ₹7.11 crore, thereby targeting the financial proceeds and infrastructure linked to narcotics trafficking and terror-related activities. #SeniorSuperintendentofPolice (SSP), Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy (IPS), chaired a high-level *Crime and Security Review Meeting* at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir.
The meeting aimed to assess the prevailing security scenario, review operational preparedness, and evaluate the disposal of crimes, with a specific focus on cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and other social offenses. The review meeting was attended by Zonal Superintendents of Police, SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), and other senior officers of the Srinagar District Police. During the session, the overall crime landscape of Srinagar was reviewed in detail. Threadbare discussions were held to enhance the quality of investigations and prosecution to improve conviction rates across general crime, POCSO, crimes against women etc. SSP Srinagar conducted a meticulous performance audit across all Zones, Sub-Divisions, and Police Stations, laying special emphasis on the swift disposal of pending backlog cases and the robust implementation of the Nyaya Sanhita. Addressing the officers, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy directed intensified action against drug trafficking. He instructed officers to systematically dismantle NDPS hotspots, map forward and backward linkages in all Narcotics and Terror-funding cases, and strictly initiate financial investigations to freeze bank accounts and attach properties derived from illegal crime proceeds. While reviewing the security grid, the SSP evaluated the operational readiness and deployment of personnel across the city. He directed field formations to strengthen counter-insurgency operations, intensify area domination exercises, and increase checkpoint (naka) checking at vulnerable locations and inter-district borders. The properties, collectively valued at over ₹6.22 crore, include residential houses and land identified during investigation as having been acquired from illicit drug proceeds.

In continuation of its sustained drive against drug trafficking and narcotic-related activities, Srinagar Police has attached an immovable property in District Budgam, worth approximately ₹𝟰 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀, belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Police Station Khanyar attached the property of 𝐅𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐳 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐫 𝐒/𝐨 𝐆𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐫 𝐑/𝐨 𝐈𝐜𝐡𝐠𝐚𝐦, 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐚𝐦, in connection with FIR No. 04/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act. The attached property comprises a two-storeyed residential house with an attic structure along with 05 Kanals and 17 Marlas of land, bearing Khasra nos. 415/416, situated at Ichgam, Budgam, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹4 Crores. The property has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, after being identified as an illegally acquired asset, allegedly derived from the proceeds of narcotic drug trafficking. The attachment is part of the ongoing efforts of J&K Police to dismantle the financial networks of drug traffickers and deprive them of assets generated through the illicit drug trade. The accused have defrauded and duped several businessmen and shopkeepers through fraudulent means and impersonation. Multiple complaints have been received against him from different parts of the Valley, besides multiple FIRs registered against him at various Police Stations. These include FIR No. 76/2022 under Section 430 IPC at Police Station Kothibagh and FIR No. 83/2023 under Sections 201, 379, 416 and 430 IPC at Police Station Pulwama. The accused has also previously been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in view of his continued involvement in criminal activities. In a significant achievement, Srinagar Police has secured the conviction of the accused in a 2020 murder case registered as FIR No. 03/2020 of Police Station Maisuma. The Hon'ble Court convicted 𝑮𝒉𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒎 𝑴𝒐𝒉𝒊-𝒖𝒅-𝑫𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒂𝒓, 𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒃𝒅𝒖𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑫𝒂𝒓, 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒂, 𝑫𝒂𝒍𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝑺𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒓, for the murder of Abdul Gani Dar, son of Mohd. Abdullah, resident of Rassu, Budgam, under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). After hearing arguments on the quantum of sentence, the Hon'ble Court observed that although the offence was grave and heinous, it did not fall within the category of the "rarest of rare" cases warranting the death penalty. Accordingly, the Court sentenced the convict to 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒐𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒐 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 ₹50,000. The fine amount, if realized, shall be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased as compensation.The convict has also been granted the benefit of set-off for the period already spent in judicial custody, in accordance with law. While passing the sentence, the Hon'ble Court took serious note of the fact that the brutal assault occurred inside the premises of a mosque, observing that violence in a place of worship undermines public peace, communal harmony and the sanctity of sacred institutions. Considering the hardship faced by the victim's family, especially the dependence of his children, the Hon'ble Court also directed the payment of ₹7 𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒉𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒎 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 under the Jammu & Kashmir Victim Compensation Scheme, 2019, to be released through the Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority within the stipulated period. The conviction is the result of a meticulous investigation conducted by Srinagar Police and effective prosecution before the Hon'ble Court.

In a significant breakthrough against property crime, Srinagar Police has solved a major theft case and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹𝟭𝟳.𝟱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗵. The case was registered at Police Station Rainawari as FIR No. 35/2026 under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint lodged by Mohd Amin Changa, son of Mohd Yousuf Changa, a resident of Changa Mohalla, Mir Behri, Dal, Rainawari, regarding a theft at his residence. During the investigation, Police identified one accused namely 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐝 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐝 𝐀𝐟𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚, 𝐌𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐫𝐢, 𝐃𝐚𝐥, 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐢. During investigation, his involvement in the theft was disclosed, in connivance with two associates, both of whom were found to be juveniles. Acting upon the disclosure, the investigating team recovered gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹12 lakhs along with cash amounting to ₹2.2 lakhs. Further investigation revealed that a portion of the stolen money had been used to purchase three iPhones and one motorcycle, collectively valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakhs. These items have also been recovered. The recovered stolen property includes:
• Two gold bangles
• Eight gold rings
• One gold necklace
• One gold pendant set
• Two large earring sets
• One small earring set
• One pair of gold jhumkas
• One wristwatch
• Cash amounting to ₹2.2 lakhs
• Three iPhones
• One motorcycle
The total value of the recovered gold ornaments, cash, and other stolen articles is estimated at approximately ₹𝟭𝟳.𝟱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗵.
