@WarriorSkald @HerrDrachenmann The disciples were not God and they never claimed their word was His. It's the slight inconsistencies (not contradictions) themselves that make the testimony compelling otherwise they would appear an obvious, coordinated false account. Their martyrdom alone is enough for me.
@HerrDrachenmann @WarriorSkald I'm amazed that you'd even bother to claim things so provably false. Idk why I'm even bothering with your drivel. The Gospel accounts were written by eye-witnesses of Christ within decades of His Passion. What's your evidence that Paul's writings were forged? Do some research! π€¦
@WarriorSkald @HerrDrachenmann I'm but only the result of my own experience, I've only my word that it has been in accordance with critical thought and a desire for the truth. But we're not purely rational beings and the modern parameters for understanding the world fall short of the wisdom of our forebears.
@HerrDrachenmann @WarriorSkald Tacitus records Christs crucifixion under pilate. St Paul relays testimony from those who knew Christ that he ascended only decades after His ascension. Christ was never buried. We have 4 independent Gospel accounts and 11 disciples were martyred for the truth of their testimony.
@WarriorSkald @HerrDrachenmann If some wish to take a buffet view of history and pick and choose the parts to believe in, even from the same sources, depending on what conveniently adheres to modern selective consensus then fine, however I'm prepared to believe the whole thing and remain critically consistent.
@HerrDrachenmann @WarriorSkald He's literally the most verifiably confirmed man to ever exist. Get mogged by every serious historian ever and stop coping. Your schizophrenic attempt to deny history may pass on Reddit but not anywhere else.
@Runsondiese1 @WarriorSkald And you've done f-all research of your own and are so insecure about it that you have to resort to ad-hominem attacks π€£ look up myrrh-streaming Icons and when you come back crying to fedora-splain it away I'll be ready with the tissues ππΌ
@WarriorSkald @Runsondiese1 And you're correct, miracles deny our common apprehension of the laws of physics, that's what makes them miracles? yet they still seem to occur all the time. I think that's worth considering.
@WarriorSkald @Runsondiese1 It's not an opinion that the forgery claims were false, it's that new data collected in recent years has proven the shrouds legitimate origins. They've never been able to reproduce it even by means of modern tech. Look into the evidence for yourself rather than assuming mal-intent
@WarriorSkald @Runsondiese1 All these apparent de-bunkings have since been themselves dismissed. e.g the tiny sample they dated was proven to be from an attempted medieval attempt to repair damage. People have written books and PHDs on this subject but I'll save you time and call you to the data video below
@WesternFolk @WarriorSkald I don't think the missionaries ever necessarily called pagan druids/mystics charlatans, only calling them to give up on potentially nefarious spiritual practices and instead to put Christ first. I am quite fascinated to read more about pagan miracle workers if you have sources?
@Runsondiese1 @WarriorSkald You only acknowledge what you want to see and your cringe fedora non-sequitor about suffering only demonstrates that you've done no research whatsoever on the topic. If you saw miracles on camera you'd call it AI, if you saw them with your own eyes, you'd call it a magic trick.
