I've made some slight adjustments to the proportions in Kunio Okawara's original design. I often refer to his work; while the body proportions and visual language in his designs can feel a bit outdated, I'm still quite fond of the designs themselves.
@Drowkex_220 At the time, these designs were shown to the lead artist of our game project, who felt that none of them achieved the effect he wanted. However, in the end, he still selected one of these sketches and asked me to try polishing it further.(this one ↓)
I just started working and I’m still pretty green. I’ve been stuck in a cycle of “designing loads of concept art, only to have it all rejected” for almost every task. (Picture shows early 2021 designs.)
@Drowkex_220 Sometimes the backside design of a mech really isn't necessary for certain work projects. You can usually practice more in your spare time—it's actually quite fun to design various thrusters or backpacks and the like.
@Drowkex_220 I think you draw very well. Based on my personal work experience, some game companies nowadays don’t place that much emphasis on precise perspective. What’s more important is effectively conveying the design.
