@Laura38460211 @RMcqueso By Zack’s own admission, he wants to “take up any job he can”, specifically being a mercenary who does odd jobs, because he’s not as worried about Shinra as he should be. He wouldn’t just hide in Elmyra’s house all day to avoid being caught. That’s part of his flaw as a character

@Laura38460211 @RMcqueso Obviously Zack’s role is to die and pass on his legacy. His role is not to be the hero that gets Avalanche through Shinra Tower. BUT, if he survived and got into that situation, he would have completed it! Bringing up his literary role is completely meaningless.

The prompt is “if Zack survived and got to Midgar, would he be able to fill the same role, or would everyone die.” My view is that he’d find himself in the same situation and protect people, as he does. You’re bringing up his purpose as a martyr to deflect.

@Laura38460211 Tifa found him the SAME DAY, like within the hour that Cloud arrived. He got to the train station, dropped cold, the worker started kicking at him, and Tifa was right there to scoop him up. Obviously Zack would run into her too.

@Laura38460211 Zack DOES know Tifa, and especially if he’s gonna trust her to watch over Cloud, it would be in their best interest to look out for each other. She keeps him employed, he keeps her and her friends alive. He didn��t just look out for Biggs because it was a dystopia, he just cares.

@Laura38460211 Zack tried to find Biggs because he’s someone he had even an inkling of investment in enough to not want him to recklessly die in a bombing. He literally sought out Avalanche from the poster because he thought “this is stupid, I need to go and help these guys from getting hurt.”

@Laura38460211 nope, I’m just using logic to reason that Zack would join Avalanche and see it through that people survive against Shinra up until Sephiroth shows up, where he would be powerless and “useless” to Sephiroth’s goal.

I know his actual place in the story. But he would be effective

@Laura38460211 You do realize that, not only does Zack need work and thus money, by the time he reunites with Aerith, he would STILL go out on the missions to keep people from recklessly dying in their attack on Shinra? Like, he’d still go to the tower with them to make sure they survive.

@Laura38460211 Why would Zack even care about Biggs? Why did he risk his life to help him when they just met? Because of his bleeding heart and self-sacrificing personality.

And unlike Biggs, he actually knows Tifa.

I agree things would be different, but he’d still protect people the same.
