They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

On Wednesday, representatives of @SSAFA were entertained at @10DowningStreet at a sunny #ArmedForcesDay reception. Beneficiaries and volunteers in the organisation were personally thanked for their service to the nation by the Prime Minister’s wife, Akshata Murty, and the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, @JohnnyMercerUK.
Amongst the guests were Keith King, a 94-year-old #WW2 veteran; Paul Jacobs, 36, Afghanistan veteran, blinded in service; Maree Rogers, service widow; Jamie Small, 15, whose father ended his own life after struggling with transition out of the military; and Henrietta Malet and Ally Musthan, both volunteers with the SSAFA Central London Committee.

SSAFA Bucks ensures our service men and women, veterans and families get the best support. We have opportunities for people with patience, integrity and empathy to train as caseworkers, visitors, fund-raisers or as treasurers and secretaries helping to run the organisation.

1,500 service personnel took part in the day, which saw the King inspect hundreds of guardsmen on the parade ground.
This year was the first time the reigning monarch had ridden at Trooping the Colour since 1986. 🐎
Happy #FathersDay! "Wait for Me, Daddy" captures five-year-old Warren "Whitey" Bernard, running out of his mother's grasp to his father, Private Jack Bernard.
The photo was taken by Claude P. Dettloff on 1 October 1940 of the British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles) marching in New Westminster.
Whitey's dad survived the European theatre in #WW2 and came home in October 1945. One casualty of the war was Whitey’s parents' marriage; as Jack and Bernice Bernard eventually divorced.
