@MKQATSAComm3724@Comm3724Nonny I wish more people can listen to such podcasts, so that the stigma mental health can be put to rest, as people will be having more knowledge about it.
@khumzicomm3724@COMM3724Myaca@anchor But what other ways can we implement to ensure that as the youth, we have other means of creating employment for ourselves?
@MakumanCOMM3724@MathaComm3724 This was very informative. How do we then educate people who smoke about the dangers associated with smoking to not only them, but other people's health and the environment?
@Comm3724Moss So how do we find those addicted help without being offensive towards them?
I mean a lot of people use self prescribed medication everyday and cannot go a day without taking the medication. That seems like addiction to me.
@STEENKAMPCOMM31 I totally agree with you there. Practising healthy and positive masculinity will definitely be a win for both genders, as some men who are toxic, are also affected negatively by their deeds in the long run.
@Comm3724Moss Men need to break the inherited cycle from past centuries about what being a man is, and define it from a current point of view. Teach each other about the benefits of positive masculinity, and that its okay to speak out and seek help because they suffer in silence
We need to break the silent cry of most men by breaking the cycle of conforming to society about what being a man is. We need to redefine it, if being masculine is now tinted with toxic traits that are more harmful to men, than they were intended to.
Did you know that unchecked toxic masculinity and the behaviours it can cause, may lead to issues such as bullying and some men resorting to substance abuse as their escape machanism as talking makes them feel unmanly for showing their vulnerable side
Men suffer the effects of masculinity that is toxic more. The pressure to have a tough exterior to appear like a man, being told not to show emotion and not talk about what they are going through affects a lot of men psychologically and physically.
What causes toxic masculinity is the need for some men to feel in charge. It becomes toxic when boys are taught to not express their emotions, because it makes them appear weak. Raising boys to believe they are superior than girls, causes dominance issues.
Toxic masculinity is the negative traits of being masculine. It is when dominance and devaluing women is applied. Violence is inflicted to show superiority and manliness. This cultural view makes some men believe that appearing tough represents strength.
Teenage mothers not only do they have higher rates of depression but they also have higher rates of suicidal ideation than their peers who are not mothers.
