We are the SSDP (Students for Sensible Drug Policy) chapter at the Univ of MN - Twin Cities campus. We advocate for a more sensible approach to drug laws.
On this #HumanRightsDay, we recognize the pernicious effects the drug war has caused on human rights and we will continue to fight against these endless violations.
Alcohol prohibition in the United States was repealed 84 years ago, signifying the ratification of the 21st Amendment. Today, the same prohibitionist approaches to cannabis & other drugs are causing the same problems. It’s time to end the drug war.
2.2 million Americans won’t be home for Thanksgiving because they’re behind bars. This is the highest amount in both per capita and absolute terms in the entire world. About half of federal prisoners & 1/4 of state prisoners there because of failed war on drugs. #LandOfTheFree https://t.co/VsWL30Qguy
