Per JPM using Gartner data, enterprise storage is tilting fast to SSD. eSSD TAM is modeled to overtake business critical and nearline HDD in 2025 and be roughly 2x HDD by 2027, while eSSD still prices at about 6x to 8x HDD.
JPM says this memory upcycle may be the longest and strongest on record. They model about 420B dollars of memory and storage TAM in 2027 and apply a 3.5x sales multiple, which gets to roughly 1.5T of combined market cap, still over 50% upside from here.
On supply and pricing, JPM argues DRAM stays tight into 2027 even with new fabs. HBM soaks up capacity, AI inference uses around 3x the memory of training, and AI servers carry about 3x the SSD content of normal servers, so they model DRAM ASP up 53% and NAND up 30% in FY26.
JPM see HBM share of total DRAM capacity rising from about 19% in 2025 to 28% in 2027 and an 8% to 12% supply gap that could last through 2028, as CSP demand for $NVDA class GPUs and custom ASICs keeps forcing DRAM makers to shift wafers into HBM.
According to a Jefferies report, DRAM and NAND memory prices could jump 40–50% in Q3 2026, followed by another 30–40% increase in Q4.
The firm doesn’t expect meaningful price relief until 2028.
Jefferies also believes Chinese memory makers won’t ease the shortage soon because they still lag behind Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron in advanced memory technology.
@bowtiedbaiji You got nothing on me

I've never had my tech hoarder mindset benefit me so greatly in my life
Helping you to understand the Price increases now impacting consumer technology.
• DRAM (RAM) prices are up nearly 98% since late 2025.
• NAND flash (storage) prices have more than doubled in many supply contracts.
• Memory manufacturers expect supply constraints to continue beyond 2027.
These aren't temporary fluctuations.
They're part of a broader shift in the global component supply chain that could influence consumer technology pricing for years to come.
The NEW reality for consumer Tech.
The RAM and SSD chips are sitting in warehouses right now.
Half of the planned data centers in the US are delayed or outright canceled.
They didn't buy the chips because they needed them.
They bought the chips to keep you from having them.
Alex and a few others jumped ahead because they bought the equipment when it was available.
Have you checked the prices on eBay for a Mac Studio with 512GB RAM? It isn't pretty.
Pay attention to what happens in the next couple of years.
Apple $AAPL is reportedly preparing to RAISE PRICES as the AI-driven memory crunch starts hitting consumer hardware.
DRAM and NAND costs are moving higher as AI servers absorb more supply, and Tim Cook says the pressure is becoming unsustainable.
🫠 The absurd reality of storage price hikes:
A SanDisk officially licensed 8TB PS5 SSD is priced at $3,699.99 on the official site — even on sale it’s $2,959.99!
Meanwhile, Sony’s latest PS5 Pro console costs just $899 (with 2TB built-in).
Meaning:
One expansion SSD = enough to buy 3 PS5 Pros + change!
What on earth is happening to storage prices? 😂
