In his first party conference speech since becoming Prime Minister, Keir Starmer highlighted the need to build a new future for our children. Delivering on this ambition requires providing every child with access to daily physical activity, including through expanded opportunities at school.
At present, too many children are inactive. By putting PE, sport and play at the heart of the school day including through a revised curriculum, we have the potential to develop children who are happier and healthier, able to access skills and enjoy new experiences.
The new pilot of breakfast clubs in particular offers a way to integrate more physical activity into young lives. Creating active breakfast clubs can support children to start lessons having been fed, feeling energised and ready to learn.
