@woye1 I think Nelfund should have an understanding with the universities to consider application approvals as payment assurances pending disbursement. With this, student might not need to make another payment due to pressure from their universities.
@Letter_to_Jack This is a poor design; a 4.2kva inverter on a 3kwh battery is technically unsustainable, except if it is intended for light loads and would mostly run within the PSH.
The least sustainable backup would be a 5kwh Li unit, at least closer to a 1:2 configuration.
BIG CHANGE:
YOU CAN NOW OFFICIALLY
GENERATE ELECTRICITY FOR YOURSELF, USE WHAT YOU NEED, AND SELL EXCESS ELECTRICITY BACK TO THE GRID THROUGH YOUR DISCO
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has commenced the Net Billing Regulations 2026, a new framework that allows eligible electricity users to generate power mainly through solar energy for their own use and export excess electricity back to the distribution network.
In simple terms, if your solar system generates more electricity than you consume, you can now send the extra power back to your DisCo and receive credits under a regulated billing arrangement.
This effectively creates what the sector calls a “Prosumer” ;meaning you are both a consumer and producer of electricity.
However, there are conditions.
This is not yet targeted at the average small residential solar setup.
To qualify:
-You must already be connected to a DisCo network.
-Your renewable energy system must have a minimum installed capacity of 50kWp and a maximum of 1.5MWp
-You must obtain approval from your DisCo.
-You must sign a Net Billing Agreement and register with NERC.
Approved users will receive bidirectional meters that track: ➡️Electricity imported from the grid
⬅️Electricity exported back to the grid
The answer is simple.
Smart people have always been the first to pick up new tools.
The calculator didn't scare the mathematician. It freed them. Same thing happening now with AI.
Smart people are used to asking questions. That's literally how they got smart. And AI is just a very powerful answer machine. So they're naturally comfortable with it.
They also don't have ego tied to how they work. They care about the result, not the method. If you can get to a better answer faster, why would you refuse?
Lastly and most importantly, smart people know how much they don't know. And that keeps them hungry.
AI is like having a brilliant friend you can call at 2am who never gets tired of your questions.
Smart people don't use AI because they're smart. They use it because they're trying to get smarter.
@SirJarus Our problem is we often mistaken luxury with normal/average life, & everyone want to live the luxurious life they assume in their heads as the supposed normal life.
More reason you'll see an average student flying Uber around instead of Kẹ̀kẹ́ 🤔
Yoruba says: "Ṣe bi o ti mọ"
@arojinle1 Omoh! This thing dey sweet d!e.
I think it's called 'iyere', can't even remember again. The seed is used to make locust beans.
Hmm... The good old days.
@osazenoo Saw this too, a good setup for basics.
Only issue is the inverter-battery ratio according to the info shared - below 1:2 standard.
Of course I expect a near future storage upgrade.
Generally, it's a smart decision anyone should take.
Good setup!
But technically unballanced - The inverter-battery ratio is quite below standard design. Hope there's a plan to upscale the storage sooner for better autonomy and avoid deep discharge beyond 0.5c under heavy load.
Good investment overall, no regrets 👍
@MisterAliyu@HabuSadeik Great explanation 👍
However, this can only be achieved with quality/original products. As most battery and panel products that litter the market these days are of less quality. But as was explained, condition of use is important and key.
Overall, solar is great!
Yes, of course- but the years mostly is for warranty not guarantee. However, if you have a 6,000 cycle battery and you exhaust 1 cycle daily, it will take you 6,000 / 365 =16.4 yrs, but this is only applicable under normal operation and ideal conditions. The practical expectation should be 10 years or so, and might drop below 10 years under aggressive cycling or poor thermal control.
Anybody that claimed their panel degraded completely at around 5 or 10 years of use didn’t get the original panel.
If you buy original panel it will last 25-30 years for you with .4% annual degradation and 1% at first year. And most of the people that will answer your question don’t know how panels degrade at .4%.
Don’t get it wrong. My advocacy for solar is not about telling people to generate their own power instead of demanding reliable electricity from government.
My point is simple: stop seeing solar only as backup when it can actually be the main source of power, even for local governments and states.
States and Local governments can partner with investors to build mini solar grids to power homes and businesses. The government has already shown this is possible through solar electrification projects in universities.
Instead of waiting endlessly for a national grid that keeps collapsing, we can build decentralized solar grids to power clusters of communities.
@osazenoo Very correct 👍
It's funny how people always look for every small things to downplay the effectiveness of the solar power system. The PV only needs the light in the sun to work, no matter how small, not the temperature. You just need to scale your system appropriately.
@jassjegs But how do you power all these you mentioned on a band E grid system for 12 hrs, talk less of you being on "band K".
Like you need to upgrade to at least band B to be sure of that constancy.
You gerrit!
Here is the simple math.
If your generator can power 2 ACs, a fridge running 24/7, and your pumping machine, you are most likely spending at least ₦20,000 on fuel daily.
•₦20,000 × 30 days = ₦600,000 monthly
•₦600,000 × 12 months = ₦7.2 million yearly
•₦7.2 million × 10 years = ₦72 million
And this doesn’t include servicing, oil changes, or repairs on the generator.
Meanwhile, about ₦15 million can install a 20kVA hybrid inverter system with roughly 45kWh lithium batteries and enough solar panels to power the same appliances for close to a decade without your lights blinking or spending on fuel every day.
When you look at the long-term cost, solar isn’t expensive. It only looks expensive when you focus on the initial setup instead of the lifetime cost.
Greetings to you sir @atiku
Please why is it that whenever any PEP/big politician is arrested/detained in this country, they suddenly develop health challenges. Is it that they're sharing illnesses for them in detention or there're just being mischievous?
Pls I wish to know sir.
The health and welfare of @elrufai is a matter of grave concern to his family, friends, and associates.
The Federal Government owes Nigerians clarity. It must state clearly which agency is holding him, whether the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), the State Security Service (SSS), or any other arm of the security establishment.
Secrecy in matters of detention only fuels suspicion. Nigerians deserve transparency.
Whichever agency is responsible has a constitutional duty to guarantee his safety, dignity, access to medical care, and access to his family and legal representatives.
Reports that he suffered a nosebleed while family members were allegedly denied access are deeply troubling and unacceptable in a democracy.
If the authorities cannot guarantee his health and fundamental rights, the lawful and humane course of action is to grant him bail without delay. If anything happens to El-Rufai, this government will be held accountable.
More troubling, however, is the growing perception of selective prosecution, in which opposition figures are aggressively pursued while others are conspicuously shielded from investigation or interrogation. Anti-corruption must not become a political weapon.
The continued detention of El-Rufai under unclear circumstances raises serious questions about motive. Anti-corruption cannot be credible when it appears partisan, coercive, or strategically timed.
Justice must be transparent. Accountability must be even-handed. And the rule of law must apply to all; without fear, without favour, and without political bias. -AA
Tecno, Infinix, Itel, Oraimo, Syinix, all owned by Transsion Holdings.
Same market strategy by some business owners across the world. It's all about creating pseudo competition.
It is the same strategy Milk brands in Nigeria also Use
Friesland owns- Peak milk, 3 crowns, Nunu milk, Coast milk and Olympic
While Promasidor owns Cowbell , Loya and Milksi.
It is sort of a pseudo competition.
You think some of these milk brands are competing , but no
These pictures belong to one brand😂😂
