We're looking for some " equipping-first mentality" staff to join our team @onechurchto - if you (or someone you know) might fit 1 of the 4 roles here, please apply.
We're committed to helping Torontonians Know God, Love People & Impact Our City.

1/4 - #PASTORS
It can feel like, "Here we go again!"
It can sound like, "We're so done with this!"
Be careful not to make leadership calls based on anxiety, anger, frustrations, pressure, or fear. Instead, what's BEST for the people you lead & the city you serve?
#COVID19
A great interview with climate scientist @KHayhoe by some guy named @jimmykimmel on something called @JimmyKimmelLive. I hope Dr. Hayhoe enjoyed her time at Jimmy's show because I'm sure it couldn't come close to her time on https://t.co/j1NTP7E1rn - @onechurchto community. 😉 🤣
It's critical when you're leading change in a church to message to existing members/people that the church is FOR YOU but it's not ALL ABOUT YOU. Churches can so easily be moved off mission and become insider-focussed.
Leaders - sometimes your followers can feel like this camera guy. They're doing their best to follow you but perhaps you need to edit your ideas, listen, pause on actioning 'another great idea' & create vision that archs instead of spikes. https://t.co/rTsS0KvvQb
The post-pandemic church must move from focusing on a WHERE (a geographical area) to WHO you are reaching. A local church can't reach everyone but it must reach someone. The local church's halo effect has grown exponentially - steward it well friends.
It was an honour to interview Pastor Reggie Neeposh of the Oujé-Bougoumou Cree Nation this past weekend @onechurchto. His story is both heartwrenching & hope-filled. We also acknowledged that our physical church resides on the Huron-Wendat nations land.

I've been in strategic planning meetings with the @UnstuckGroup - clarifying the #vision & future direction certainly does expose competing visions & agendas. Competing visions suck energy from your teams & ambiguity allows drama to percolate in the corners of your org. #GetAPlan
5/5 - Decline of the Church in Canada
This is a reset season! There's so much promise ahead! Let's not sell our souls to methods & styles but go "all-in" on Jesus' mission to care for the poor, elevate the oppressed, embrace the marginalized & reflect the love of Jesus!
Being relevant doesn't necessarily = compromise
Being irrelevant doesn't necessarily = no compromise
Relevancy is answering the questions that are being asked by the culture & speaking in a way that is understood by the culture. Relevancy builds a bridge for the truth to cross.
Well said @RealMikeMiller.
I think many leaders are confusing a 'pandemic' with a 'persecution'. How we navigate this season is our witness - good or bad. "Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ." - 1 Cor 9:19
1/6 - #PANDEMICTHOUGHTS
I'm tired.
You're tired.
Some sobering news today in #Ontario.
I lead a church (@onechurchto) in #Toronto. I count that a great privilege & a great responsibility to serve this community. I've felt the weight of that role every day of this pandemic.
5/6 - GETTING OLD - It comes for us all. Our culture despises old & venerates new. Develop a vision for each stage of life & hone these habits:
1. Re-frame aging as #gaining (experience & wisdom)
2. Re-frame aging as #giving (what can I give to younger gens that will help them?)
1/3 - COVID19 - CHURCH REOPENING?
PASTORS: Please read this article, given to me by an epidemiologist. I know some people want to exercise their 'right' to gather & I know the gov may give us that 'right'.
But should you exercise it? Now?https://t.co/WNUwaus60W
It doesn't make sense to hire smart people & tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do. - Steve Jobs
LEADERS/PASTORS:
1. Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you in some area or every area
2. Listen to these people
3. Rinse & Repeat
When a #reformation is underway you can either:
#1. Get in the way (fight it)
#2. Get out of the way (watch it)
#3. Be apart of the way (participate in it)
The power structures of the 20th century are being reformed.
