Niggas aint take Kendrick's "pedophilia" accusations serious either.
No lost sponsors.
No boycotts.
No call to action.
No cancelled shows.
It was the same "repercussions" as Drake's physical abuse accusations. Jokes, online conspiracies that went nowhere, & Stan War bullshit. Just amplified bc NLU was a bop, him back to backing Drake with MTG & NLU in the span of 24 hours was the most viral hip hop moment of the decade, and Drake doing that weird shit with the 17 y/o in Colorado being captured in 480p.
Why do you think he confused Kendrick performing at the Superbowl as "Drake's funeral" and not a business decision that went on to break records for a show he's employed to generate interest for?
Explain that. Like make that make sense. Kendrick had 4 #1s in 2024 & the hottest song of the year. His performance broke records. Why are you correlating that to "eliminating Drake" and not Jay just doing his job competently?
Btw, Idgaf if Drake dissed Jay on Iceman. Drake can do what he wants and feel how he wants. I'm just sick of the stupid narratives.
@bweezybird She gonna get it extra viciously too. Niggas have no mercy on women commentators. And most of them mfs are gonna be New Yorkers too? Yeah, I aint gonna hold you; it's gonna get bad if NY wins & Brunson keeps hooping like this.
No nigga. The post I was responding to was saying "ppl have been complaining about the repercussions of being called a pedo for 2 years".
I'm pointing out Jay actually FACED the repercussions bc they occurred OUTSIDE the lens of a rap battle while Drake did NOT. That clarification is important bc there's a STARK difference in an angle in a rap battle and an actual allegation in government documents & civil court from a perception, monetary, and societal standpoint.
A woman called an anonymous tip hotline and accused Jay of being on Epstein island so now he's in government files associated with a pedophile. Drake was called a pedophile by a nigga rapping.
Jay was accused civilly in a lawsuit of raping a 13 y/o. He had to legally fight those actual accusations and the counter-sue claiming extortion. These are REAL life accusation with actual repercussions. Drake is upset his label didn't censor the song of a rapper calling him a pedophile after they didn't censor his song calling bro a woman beater.
So it's a false equivalence. What Drake went through was ppl saying mean shit about him on the internet (that was already in the zietgeist before the battle). The majority understood the disses were not FORMAL or LEGAL or ACTIONABLE accusations against Drake bc of the platform in which they were levied. They were simply angles in a rap battle. Which is why you saw no corporate sponsors abandon his brand, no protests, no boycotts, no call for investigation, and no criminal charges levied from Kendrick or anyone in his camp.
Reasonable ppl understood Kendrick was simply responding to hyperbolic disses with increasingly more vicious hyperbolic insults. Did some ppl think Drake was a Diddler? Yes. They likely thought that before NLU tho. Those unreasonable ppl did what tho? They made jokes at his expense and called him names. There wasn't actual recourse with real world consequences. Jay's "accusations" were not on wax AND on top of that, he wasn't levying public false/non-provable accusations of his own that directly resulted in the insults levied at him. Drake did.
Which I kinda feel needs to clarified when trying to equate to the two.
@BigFuriousGamer@jaybucks107 Again not defending Jay. I had no issues with anything Drake said, Kendrick said, or Jay said. Just clarifying false equivalences, not defending disses.
I’m not defending Jay. He should burn in hell if what those anonymous tips the FBI deemed non-actionable are true.
What I’m doing is making the distinction between someone who had actual life altering LEGAL allegations levied at them irl & someone who got clowned in a rap beef they happily & willingly partook in.
Yall do realize this is the correct way to do hiphop media
A hiphop media podcaster shouldn’t be a Stan page
You’re supposed to bring 3 points
Them - Theirs - and Yours
Yall are used to people regurgitating the same damn shit
So once someone doesn’t sing your song yall think they’re moving different
No
It’s called balanced media
No one wants to hear the same shit everyone else says all the damn time
Where’s the discourse?
You hear his cohosts interjecting his thought?
That’s on purpose .. it’s so both viewer perspectives are engaged & not left out
@DeletedVILLAIN It’s a little bit deeper than that. His catalog gets overrated when conflating sales & quality…but his commercial dominance isn’t solely (or even primarily) the byproduct of quantity.
