@HenryPryor @RightArmLongHop The farm may well have been in the family for generations, and if one spouse has died they will have an IHT bill of £200,000 minimum. Where is that to come from if they want their children (who have grown up with the farm in their blood) to continue farming it?

@HenryPryor @RightArmLongHop Endless specific examples - to be viable a farm usually needs to be at least 200 acres, that equates to about £2m on land value alone, not including house, barns, machinery etc. Although their farm may be worth £2m on paper, the farmer often has an income well below average
