CONTRARY TO NATIONAL TREASURE, THE DOCUMENTS AREN'T PERIODICALLY REMOVED AND "CLEANED." THE LAST PRESERVATION WORK ON THE DECLARATION WAS IN 2003, AND WON'T BE DONE AGAIN FOR 100 YEARS. EVEN IF THEY DID CLEAN THE DOCUMENTS, DURING THE GALA WOULD NOT BE THE TIME TO DO SO.
