WITCHCRAFT AND FOLLOWING GOD CANNOT BE MIXED. If you say you follow God, you cannot also practice witchcraft, sorcery, divination, necromancy, spell work, or any other form of occult practice. The Bible does not present witchcraft as harmless entertainment or an alternative form of spirituality. God specifically commanded His people to stay away from it. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD.”

The Bible shows us what happened when people who believed turned away from these practices. In Acts 19, people who had practiced magic confessed what they had been doing and brought their books of magic together and burned them publicly. Acts 19:19 KJV says, “Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.” They did not try to keep their occult materials while following Christ. They got rid of them. That is a powerful example of repentance and separation from their former practices.

Scripture also shows serious consequences surrounding those who practiced sorcery and magic. When Simon the sorcerer believed and was baptized, he tried to purchase the power of God with money. Peter rebuked him strongly. Acts 8:20-23 KJV says, “But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.” The lesson is clear: God's power is not something to manipulate, purchase, or combine with occult practices.

There was also a sorcerer named Elymas who opposed the apostles and tried to turn someone away from the faith. Paul, filled with the Holy Ghost, confronted him. Acts 13:10-11 KJV says, “And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season.” The Bible therefore gives us examples of God's servants confronting sorcery and occult practices rather than accepting them as compatible with faith in God.

So if you say you follow God, do not practice witchcraft. Do not try to make Christianity and witchcraft coexist. Do not call something “spiritual” simply because it does not look evil on the surface. God's Word gives us boundaries for a reason. The people in Acts burned their magic books when they turned to Christ. Scripture repeatedly commands God's people to reject witchcraft and occult practices. You cannot deliberately hold onto witchcraft while claiming obedience to God. You cannot serve both. Not sometimes, not occasionally, and not secretly. Choose God, turn away from darkness, and let your life reflect His Word.

𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗦

Christians need to talk about spiritual warfare without fear, but also without ignorance.

The Bible tells us to be sober, vigilant, and aware that we have an adversary (1 Peter 5:8). The devil looks for opportunities, and Scripture warns believers not to give him a foothold (Ephesians 4:27).

Here are areas Christians must take seriously:

1. 𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘

Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

You cannot fight a battle you refuse to understand. Ignorance of God's Word can leave you vulnerable to deception, false teaching, and spiritual error.

Jesus defeated Satan's temptation with Scripture: “It is written.” — Matthew 4:4–10

Know the Word. Test what you hear. Discern what is spiritual.

2. 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗖, 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗦 & 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗘

Stop saying, “It's only entertainment.”

What you repeatedly expose your mind to can shape what you tolerate, celebrate, desire, and normalize.

Philippians 4:8 tells believers to dwell on what is true, honorable, pure, lovely, and commendable.

Psalm 101:3 says, “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.”

Not everything you can watch or listen to is something you should continually feed your spirit with.

3. 𝗢𝗖𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗦 & 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

Witchcraft, divination, sorcery, mediums, spiritism, and attempts to communicate with spirits outside God's appointed way are explicitly condemned.

— Deuteronomy 18:10–12
— Acts 19:18–19

Don't call something harmless simply because it looks spiritual.

Test the spirits. — 1 John 4:1

4. 𝗜𝗗𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗥𝗬 & 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗖 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣

1 Corinthians 10:20–21 gives a serious warning about participating in pagan sacrifices and fellowship with demons.

You cannot have fellowship with Christ while deliberately participating in what Scripture identifies as fellowship with demons.

5. 𝗕𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦 & 𝗢𝗖𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦

Do not enter covenants, rituals, sacrifices, or spiritual agreements connected to occult practices.

Christians belong to Christ.

“Ye are bought with a price.” — 1 Corinthians 6:20

Your allegiance belongs to Jesus.

6. 𝗦𝗘𝗫𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬

Sexual sin is not something Scripture treats casually.

Paul says:

“Flee fornication.” — 1 Corinthians 6:18

Sexual immorality can involve the body in sin in a uniquely serious way, which is why Scripture commands believers to flee rather than negotiate with temptation.

7. 𝗨𝗡𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗜𝗡

A believer should never become comfortable deliberately practicing what God has commanded them to abandon.

Ephesians 4:26–27 says:

“Neither give place to the devil.”

Repentance is not weakness.

Repentance is how you close the door instead of defending the thing that opened it.

8. 𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦, 𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥 & 𝗨𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦

Ephesians 4:31–27 connects unresolved anger with giving the devil an opportunity.

Hebrews 12:15 warns about a “root of bitterness” that can defile many.

Don't allow hatred, bitterness, revenge, or unforgiveness to become a permanent residence in your heart.

Forgiveness doesn't mean approving what happened.

It means refusing to let bitterness rule you.

9. 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗘 & 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗬

Not every spiritual voice is God's voice.

Not every prophecy is from God.

Not every supernatural manifestation is the Holy Spirit.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.” — 1 John 4:1

Scripture—not experiences, personalities, or manifestations—is the standard.

As a Christian, I can admit there have been so many times where I’ve stopped whatever I was doing and thought to myself, “Wow, I’ve strayed.” I’m no longer listening to my daily gospel music. I’m listening to secular music. I’m no longer doing my devotionals. I’ve reverted back to cursing. Did I even pray today? Did I talk to God? I had that moment yesterday and I did not like the feeling. I could feel myself slipping back to the old me.
