If you want to do the "bring back classical education" bit, stop being cowards and use the King James. While also not a great translation, it is much better written and more important to the history of the English language.

It's far from the biggest problem with the Texas Government's proposal to add Biblical texts into mandatory public school curriculum, but they're using NIV and ESV, two of the worst English translations.
