Primary Schools are hubs of activity in their communities. I am sharing my 15yrs of knowledge to help schools build an active ethos that will benefit everyone!
It’s the final week of the half term!
Our focus for this week is Active Interventions!
🔹Do you run then?
🔶Can you fit them into your timetable?
I well share intervention options as well as timetabling & a dry diving case study!

Space, the thing us PE teachers always want more of!
But the right playground markings can create more opportunities for activity, just be careful not to make it look like someone has gone mad with chalk all over it!
#educhat#edutwitter#education#PEteachers
This weeks theme is Active Interventions
🔶Do you utilise them?
🔹How do you fit them in your timetable?
🔶Who leads them?
Done right, these sessions are game changers for pupils involved & help children see how activity can be used to help us learn in different ways!

This weeks Sunday Blog focuses on a Borrow a Bike Scheme

Having a strong active ethos
means supports/promoting active options available outside of your school, so this includes community clubs
If you have active groups within your community, reach out to them & begin to build a network to support one another!

I am Dan, Primary PE & community lead for over 15yrs
I founded @TeachersRunClub in 2021 to support school staff in their active journey
This page is dedicated to sharing my journey in creating active opportunities in primary schools outside of PE lessons
Remove barriers for educators to be active by creating Active Options for School Staff in your school
🔶 Is that the job of school leaders?
🔶 Is it necessary?
🔶 What are the benefits?
This can be an inexpensive way to boost wellbeing!

This week’s topic is #CommunityEngagment
🔶Do you as a school work alongside community groups in your area?
🔶Do you host anything on site that is open to more than just your pupils?
Keep an eye out each day this week for different tips on this topic!

I am Dan, I started @TeachersRunClub in 2021 to engage staff in activity
I have now started my new project @Staff_Challenge (The Schools Active Community Coach)
Here I will share weekly themed tips on creating active opportunities for pupils outside of PE
Morning #educhat
Quantity/Quality
Which 1 do you think is most Important in your #primayschool club offer
Do you have clubs with small numbers that could be bigger?
Do you have some that are so full no one is gaining anything from being there?
Let me know your thoughts 👇
Extracurricular club
Love them or hate them?
You can’t deny the impact they can have on the pupils and their parent/guardians
Morning clubs are a great way to reach a high number of pupils will less input needed from staff than an after school club 👇

An Active Ethos goes beyond what the children do, but also what they see
Trips to sporting events are so rewarding, & enjoyable for pupils & staff
Whether it’s @wembleystadium or
your local #Netball team, so much can be taken from live sport opportunities
#educhat#teachers
Developing an Active Ethos means movement is incorporated in all areas of school, including the classroom
How many staff meetings & CPD sessions have you had to stop yourself dozing off in😴
Movement is possible, even in the smallest classroom

A brilliant idea that will make cycling more accessible to your community!
Having access to a bike is something so many of us will take for granted!
@TeacherCycling @Sustrans
Our bike library has arrived! Free to use for staff, children and families. 4 adult's bikes, 4 children's bikes, helmets and locks. We're so excited to introduce these to the school community

I am Dan, @TeachersRunClub founder
I’ve started this page to share my experience in building an Active Ethos within primary schools
My focus is everything outside of curriculum PE. Highlighting all the ways we can create active opportunities around school
Whether it’s skipping, yo-yos or diabolos, traditional games are great for free time activity
Not all break time play has to be a ‘sport’ & simple games like these can bring the playground to life
(And they don’t even realise that they are being active)
