Clandestine chemist Owsley Stanley, the inspiration for Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne”, was born on this day in 1935. Stanley’s LSD lab was raided in 1967, and Stanley received a three year prison sentence. He was also a roadie and sound engineer for the Grateful Dead.
