This afternoon, Reverend Debbie from St Katharineโs Church came in to deliver a Remembrance Day assembly. She talked to us about why we celebrate Remembrance Day and we held our own memorial, placing poppies carefully. Year 2 read a poem and we held our own silence.
In Year 2, the children have been learning about Remembrance Day. They learnt that Remembrance Day is on the 11th November and the poppy is used to remember those who died in the War. They enjoyed making a poppy and learning a poem ready for our Remembrance Day assembly.
This week in Year 1, they have been learning their new text โHow to catch a starโ and have enjoyed creating star poems and making a clay star. They also learnt about the Gunpowder Plot and created their own chalk firework pictures and edible sparklers!
Year 1 had a great day yesterday. They cut the ingredients for their soup, did some Halloween paint stamping, and then cooked and ate their homemade pumpkin soup !
Year 2 enjoyed exploring a range of everyday materials today to see whether we could change the shape. We predicted whether the shape would stay the same, change back again or not change at all. Well done Year 2!
