North America Nebula! 📷

Here is some fresh data using a new portable astrophotography kit that I will be testing over the next few months! The image includes the nearby 'Pelican Nebula' in Cygnus.

For this picture, I used a multi-bandpass narrowband filter (Optolong L-eNhance) to separate the bright hydrogen gas from the surrounding sky. It's a more dynamic image, but unfortunately, the natural colors of the stars and faint areas of dust are lost.

The skies have been smokey in the backyard lately, and this image could have benefitted from darker skies under better conditions. Regardless, it feels good to get out there and image again 🙂
