ryza represented a shift in gust’s mindset toward capturing broad audience appeal and so it’s much higher in its budget and production quality… but as a result it loses so much of that soul and that almost doujin-like jank of games like the arland and dusk trilogies.

@TriforceZard I don’t mean this lightly but if you can, do NOT start with Ryza—it’s too polished imo, it represented a change in mindset for gust at the time to shift towards more broad appeal and i think as a result it loses much of the ‘jank’ and the charm that the games prior had.
