Soon enough the cold got the better of him as his body instinctively made a bubble around before he passed out in the void before the bubble was dragged by an unseen force into a different realm as the pink orb crashed near by Belo’s castle catching the attention of Coven scouts.

Steven was returning home after a solo mission through a gem wrap to help look for any corrupted gems that the Crystal Gems might’ve missed before the Diamonds helped them restore them to their normal state. However during his travel through the stream the bubble

meant to contain the poofed gem wasn't able to completely contain them as it busted open with the force of it alone sending the half gem/human flying out of the stream. However, he managed to quickly form a bubble around the gem to contain it as he drifted off in the cold void.
