One consideration not often accounted for is the need of volunteers--every day we were watching our 100 person + volunteer base for signs of

*Exhaustion
*Dehydration
*Injuries
*Minor infections
*Sore muscles
and much more!

Our focus is medical support and humanitarian relief in disasters.

But, is that necessary?

Hurricane Helene--our team arrived Day 14.

Local clinics had no running water, power, or internet. Seeing patients in a tent outside the clinic---patients who could get there.

As roads opened up, our team expanded into ground operations. We packed gear bags and went with various teams in off-road vehicles.

They battled down trees, washed out roads, and the threat of bears to reach patients in the hollers.

Help! We need somebody—-

@Starlight_Init continues to work with folks in #WNC to provide assistance.

1. Paramedics/EMT-B: need 2 daily to accompany SAR teams on missions

(RN with er/trauma experience also welcome)

2. Heavy equipment operators

3. Folks to run errands, sort supplies, provide general support

4. Developing medical support, so please contact us again if interested.

Putting together trauma bags for SAR teams.

They are volunteering but have inadequate equipment

We have donations to cover this!

- a family of 5 will be kicked out of @fema hotel on 1-11.

Can’t live in donated camper due to no water or no power.

Finding airBNB $3k/mo X 2months

Another man does his own home dialysis and needs a generator ($1,700)

We are finding one to loan him until his comes in to the store early Feb.

We are not in the ground in NC, but our support continues!

Sending a big box of meds for their co stand coughing (and they’re not sleeping!) so they can recover and keep helping!
