The story of how Wisconsin author Sterling North's book "Rascal" became a Japanese anime "Araiguma Rascal" known the world over... A book coming in 2026.
@kyk_koniro Sterling was the youngest in his family, by far! When Sterling was born in November 1906, his oldest sister Theodora was almost 17. Sister Jessica was 15. Brother Herschel was almost 14.
@6Q78rQtDwB15502 Now it is the season for wild raspberries in Brailsford. So far I have collected one quart. Soon I will make jam! I am a master jam maker, just like Grandma Clarissa.
@q6u6prsk The anime does a good job of showing Wisconsin. You can still visit Sterling's house. It is now a museum. I am writing a book about "Rascal." https://t.co/b5Ft8Rni0g
@sterlingras1221 Yes, of course! Sterling continued to play the banjo in college and throughout his life. My book has a picture of him playing, as an adult...
@chachacha0813 There are sculpin in fast-moving Wisconsin streams. I remember seeing them in the 1970s. They were very small, though - about 8 cm. Not big enough to eat!
@usctsusctu A week or two ago, a boy caught this catfish in the Rock River, at Beloit not far from Brailsford. The boy struggled to bring the fish to shore. A police officer helped him.
