Start Early's goal is to ensure every child in Minnesota is physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively prepared for school and lifelong success.
Child care providers are telling us what they need.
Families are telling us what they need.
Businesses are telling us what they need.
We should give them what they need.

Their proposal would make it so no family pays more than 7% of their income on childcare - the amount that's considered affordable by the Federal government. #GreatStartMN#mnleg
Did you know the average MN family with young kids spends a whopping 21% of their income on childcare? @carlieforhouse & @grant_hauschild are proposing to expand child care and early learning support. https://t.co/tEI2mbtsQR

Our future together depends on our ability to remove barriers of any kind to education for everyone - from early childhood, through higher education. That work can, should, and must continue. #mnleg
I’m happy to share that this past session, I authored & passed legislation that renewed funding for 4,000 voluntary pre-k seats that were set to expire & was also able to negotiate added funding for an additional 5,200 seats in the state education finance omnibus. These 9,200 seats will be allocated to low-income children throughout Minnesota by FY26.

Agree with @sturdevant here.
The work/funding put into early care/education this year are hugely important. Speaker @melissahortman is right to say that it may have the biggest payoff of anything we did this year. #mnleg#GreatStartMN#BestState

Including Minnesota.
We took some important steps this year, but we need to do more and yes, invest more, if we want an early care system that works. #mnleg#GreatStartMN#BestState#AllInForKids
Minnesota's brand new Dept. of Children, Youth & Families is a major investment in the future of our state! There's more work to do to make child care more affordable for families, but a dedicated state agency is a step in the right direction. #mnleg
