🚨‘Several’ Southampton players are planning a class-action lawsuit against the club because play-off expulsion has denied them the prospect of bonuses & increased salaries #saintsfc@BILD
-Pushed to extend process, when a quick process might have led to better outcome.
-Failed to anticipate EFL's seriousness
-Credulous lie that Salt acted alone
-No media strategy, ceded the PR war to Boro
-Seemingly, no comms with squad
-Poor comms with fans
-Silence from Eckert
I did sympathise with Parsons because I suspect he knew nothing of the spying. But the more I read the more it feels #saintsfc misplayed their response at every stage.
🚨 @mjshrimper: “I’m led to believe that the initial [Spygate] hearing went incredibly badly for Southampton. The EFL hired a criminal barrister. I think Southampton were perhaps a little bit shocked that the EFL were going to push for expulsion.” #saintsfc@TheAthleticFC
🚨 All the key details here from the independent disciplinary commission’s written reasons.
Tonda Eckert was found to have authorised spying, which was delegated to a junior member of staff, who felt under pressure.

Honestly think sacking Spors, Tonda and his staff could end up being the worst part of all this. Took us so long to get to point were all parts of the football operation were all firing together. I am humiliated but not trying to tear it all down. #saintsfc
@AdamBlackmore Think that would have been a much better approach but don't think it would have changed anything. The Times reported very early that a sporting sanction 'such as' explosion + points was 'likely', think the EFL made up their mind about that course fairly quickly.
FWIW can't treat Tonda as blameless and pile on Sports Republic.
Eckert is responsible for matchday preparation. It would be really odd if people higher in #saintsfc were directing backroom to spy. Do you think the DoF, CE or chairman would even have a scooby what it was worth?
Not aggrieved about the performance or about the way the chips fell. We were great, City better (for a bit), fate gave and then fate took away.
But it really felt like this year maybe was our year. We march on.

Arsenal fans may want to look away now. @Phil_Football good friend @squires_david on a Cup upset we couldn't possibly mention. Full @guardian_sport strip here >

What does the semi-final (25th/26th) mean for this? Will they actually make us play Blackburn on 21st and Ipswich on 28th. And if not do we absolutely have to play them before the last day? #SaintsFC
@JF0RSURE__@SaintsExtra@fbrates I'd note that Wrexham's last two fixtures are Coventry and Middlesbrough. I'd rather have Saints run-in, which skews towards middle rather than top and bottom.
I like Jander and think he's slotted in nicely but not convinced he can handle the Premier League. Not strong enough in the tackle and defensively. Unsurprised that European clubs are the leading names here. #SaintsFC
🚨 Southampton midfielder Caspar Jander is one to watch ahead of the summer transfer window, with RB Leipzig, Stuttgart, Ajax & PL clubs monitoring his situation — Saints’ current valuation is between €15-25m #saintsfc@Plettigoal
@smithers007@AlfieHouseEcho OK #Saintsfc fans, Keith Fray and I have just checked all records going back to the early 1890s and we have never before overturned a 3 goal deficit to win a match, either at home or away. So last night was an historic occasion. #LEISOU
