KING OF THE SCARLETS was originally named ALICE before being renamed in 1911 when the Dinorwic quarry owner, Charles Assheton-Smith, acquired the racehorse of the same name.

This locomotive spent its working life at the Dinorwic quarry and was exported to North America in the mid-1960s and returned to the UK over 45 years later in 2012.

PAKIS BARU No.1 has been promoted to a new centrepiece role above the stage in the Roundhouse museum.

PAKIS BARU No.1 maintains many original features, including the O&K cab and steam-powered bell, the latter feature having originally been provided in place of a whistle in order not to alarm the oxen used to plough the fields and haul carts on the sugar estates.
