@drpanman Very true... i think it is a bad move all around and it didn't seem that there was any legitimate alternate strategies put together in the last 3 years and the approval of the renovations in 2003 started the ball rolling by losing the tax breaks for being a historical building

All time horrible decision & for those saying its only a 20 - 30 minute drive from Soldier field...

A: Traffic - no train
B: A huge portion of the ticket holders come from North West... so an additional 20-30 minutes.

Never forget this is just a patch and didn't actually fix the real issues...

People aren't upset about the actual repairs as it has been an ongoing thing for some time.

People are upset from a mixture of aesthetic changes, massive cost increases, bypassing of federal bidding laws, and ongoing quality issues.

Some points to note:
* The blue paint does nothing to fix the structural issues causing the pool to leak 16 million gallons of water annually.
* The blue paint is highly uneven, leaving different, clashing shades of blue throughout the 2,000-foot basin
* Documents from National Park Service and Interior Department staff revealed that the rushed application has been plagued by bubbles, holes, and peeling in the waterproof coating
* Without a proper overhaul of the underlying plumbing and water-treatment systems, critics emphasize that stagnant water will simply continue to grow algae, turning the new "American Flag Blue" into an uneven green sludge.

Hope this helps... They turned a large reconstruction project into a quick fix for the upcoming 250 celebration, and in turn created problems for future people to deal with and increased costs when they do.
