Compulsion =/= addiction.
The evidence for addiction simply isn’t there. Behavioral compulsion in a similar model to OCD however? Sure. But that’s very treatable, and requires a different treatment approach to addiction.
We don’t say that someone with cleanliness OCD is “addicted to washing their hands”.
