Learning about transpiration with Y9. @SAPS_News using the straw potometer. Once we found stems that didn’t leave a gap it worked really well. They left them on the windows and I’ve been marking them through the afternoon. Doing it again later this week.
The theme for British Science week this year was time. Many of our students took part in a challenge to design a way to accurately time 10 seconds. Some of the efforts shown here. Some students got very close (9.98). Lots of experimentation and discussion.
@leysbiotutor Not much! We have a poster - will find that in a bit. We emphasise that the description that they have written is important - it’s not all about the egg. They can use a real egg or egg shape and it can be any scientist or an event they consider to be really important.
@leysbiotutor Thank you. I will let the owner of this egg know that it received such a positive response. It’s a lovely competition and we really enjoy the creativity shown and the range of scientists/key moments in scientific history that are chosen.
We’ve had many entries depicting Hawking over the years, this is the first one dedicated to his equation giving the entropy of a black hole. #hardboiledscience
