At DAWSON WAM, our steel mats are engineered for maximum durability and cost-efficiency. Unlike traditional timber mats, which often suffer from splitting, warping, rot, or damage, our heavy-duty steel mats stand up to the toughest site conditions!
Exciting news!
The final checks are being completed on four brand new mats and ramps before they head out on their first hire to a job in Belfast.
The size of these mats needs to be seen to be believed.. huge!

With the new pictures of the HS2 tunnel boring machines being lowered in to place you might spy twelve @DAWSON_WAM steel mats under the crane. These TBMs were delivered in parts, the heaviest being 336-tonne, down a 25 metre ancillary shaft.
We’ve unveiled the names of the next pair of tunnel boring machines (TBMs) that will dig the next stage of tunnels under the capital.
Following a vote, Emily and Anne have been chosen, named after local female icons from history 🤩
Learn more about who the TBMs are named after here: https://t.co/MKHYpdHgXM
We now have ramps available for hire which have been designed especially with heavy machinery in mind. Each individual ramp is 1.2m wide with a 5º slope to allow easier access to our steel mats for both tracked and rubber-tyred vehicles.
A huge thank you for your continued support in what has been our busiest year yet. We have big plans for 2021 including new mats, ramps and foam... watch this space! But for now, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year

Here we have our steel mats supporting a 160t Liebherr next to Loch Thom, high in the hills of Inverclyde in Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park for our client GEORGE LESLIE. It’s not often we get to see our mats in such a beautiful setting so thank you to James Johnston for the photo
DAWSON-WAM steel mats are often used internally by our piling division to provide a safe working platform, in this case for one of our 80t rigs. These mats were used to spread the load of the rig reducing the depth of piling platform required, saving our client time and money.
Our steel mats were used to spread the load of Weldex’s 600t Liebherr for a Network Rail bridge dismantling project. The mats were set out in such a way as to allow the crane to lift and carry the bridge section to a safe location for dismantling #spreadingtheload
Some of our 'half mats' arriving back in to our yard from Explore Plant. These mats are 2.5m by 2.5m by 0.31m thick and are ideal for spreading the load from mobile crane outriggers.
We have lots of solutions available to help #spreadtheload of some of the UKs biggest equipment
DAWSON-WAM ltd steel mats are often used to spread the load of heavy cranes and other construction traffic but they can also be used as bridges to span gaps, rivers or services #SpreadingTheLoad
